What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture is one of several therapies used in East Asia. In acupuncture, various points on the surface of the body are needled to stimulate healing.

Does it hurt?
The needles are ultra-thin. They come sterilized and sealed, and are never reused. Most patients feel relaxed after the needles are applied to the skin.

Why should I see an acupuncturist?
The benefits are many. Traditional Chinese Medicine views sickness as arising from over activity or weakness in the body. A good acupuncturist can nourish, quiet and calm the vital organ systems while relieving symptoms.

Can acupuncture help with psychosomatic conditions?
Emotions, such as anger or worry, can find expression through physical illness. Traditional Chinese Medicine sees mind & body as one, and acupuncture treats stress and distress as if your health depended on it.

What if I’m already receiving medical treatment for illness?
If your treatment is already proceeding according to Western clinical practice, we complement it by enhancing immunity and restoration while reducing unwanted side-effects.

Do you treat lymphedema?
Yes, we can choose between manual drainage therapy and Chinese medical therapies to treat lymphedema when it’s appropriate.

What other therapies comprise Traditional Chinese Medicine?
Herbal medication can enhance and extend the benefits of acupuncture. Joyce Wu Acupuncture Clinic can dispense raw herbs to be cooked and consumed at home.
